| | Kim Williams Justesen is a Salt Lake City native who now lives in Sandy, Utah. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Westminster College, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing for Children from Vermont College.
For 12 years, Kim worked in public relations and advertising, including jobs with local advertising agencies and television stations. She even spent four years as the Public Information Officer for the Utah Division of Comprehensive Emergency Management (try saying that 5 times fast!). She has written t.v. and radio ads, video scripts, brochures, newsletters, press releases, fund raising letters. But her first love was always writing books.
Her first book, "Love and Loathing" was published in 1998. That was followed by many magazine and internet articles, and a project for Klutz Publishing (part of the Klutz Kwiz for Kids series). After time off to get the Master's Degree, she had three books in a series released in 2005. The "Hey, Ranger" books are based on actual questions asked by tourists who visit America's national parks each year. In 2006 "My Brother the Dog" came out and has grown in popularity since its release. A new novel called "Infinite Blue" will be released in 2008.
Kim is married to Mike Justesen, and they have three teen-agers, which explains the twitch in her left eye. When she is not writing, Kim teaches English, Literature, and Humanities classes at Utah Career College. And if she’s not doing that, she’s knitting or crocheting, or looking for chocolate to eat.
Kim is a Past Honored Queen of Bethel #7, Salt Lake City, and a Past Bethel Guardian of Bethel #16, Midvale, Utah. She is also active in Eastern Star, currently serving as Associate Matron for Radiant Chapter #12. Her oldest daughter, Morgan, is a two-time PHQ in Bethel #16, and her youngest daughter, Amanda, is a member of Bethel #7. Son Ryan is a member of R.W. Moore Chapter, DeMolay.
